Estremera-Rivera has been a student/teacher mentor, advisor, and leader of various district-wide and school-based committees, all with a focus on Social, Emotional, Learning, Blended and Personalized Learning, Restorative Practices, and Capacity Building. Estremera-Rivera served as Vice principal of Montgomery Township High School, was a K-12 Spanish teacher in the Hopewell Valley Regional School District where she earned the Governor's Teacher of the Year award, founded the Spanish Exchange Program with FloridaBlanca in Murcia, Spain, and served as Vice Principal in the Hopewell Valley Regional School District for 25 years. Prior to joining the staff at Montgomery Upper Middle School, Mrs. in Spanish and Latino Caribbean Studies from Rutgers University. ![]() Raquel Estremera-Rivera received her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from The College of New Jersey and her B.A. Her favorite part about being a musician is getting to teach and perform pieces that she loves, and she hopes to help her students do the same in her courses at UMS.Mrs. Following graduation, she worked as the 4th-8th Band and Orchestra director at HW Smith School in Syracuse, New York before accepting her current position as the UMS Orchestra Director in the Montgomery Township School District. She holds both a BM and MM in Music Education with Performance Honors from Syracuse University. Since her very first experiences playing in middle school band and orchestra, Miss Y knew she wanted to be a music teacher. Her love of playing flute led her to sign up for piano lessons almost immediately, and to start both violin and viola when she added 6th grade orchestra to her schedule the next year. Miss Yavorsky began her instrumental music career when she signed up to play the flute in her 5th grade band at Holland Brook School in Readington, New Jersey.
